The road to East Lansing and the boys basketball state championship begins with district action opening March 8 across the state. Below is a look where each local team begins its journey and what roadblocks may be ahead.

Class A at Groves
Birmingham Brother Rice opens with Berkley High at 5:30 p.m. March 8. Following that contest, the host team takes on Bloomfield Hills Andover.

Birmingham Seaholm drew a first-round bye and takes on the winner of Brother Rice and Berkley at 5:30 p.m. March 10. Immediately following, Royal Oak High takes on either Groves or Andover at 7 p.m.

The championship is set for 7 p.m. March 12, with the winner heading to a regional March 15 hosted by Lake Orion High.

Class B at Clawson High
Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day opens its postseason with Madison Heights Lamphere at 5 p.m. March 8. A win there, and the Yellowjackets take on Madison Heights Madison at 7 p.m. March 10.

On the other side of the bracket, Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood meets Clawson at 7 p.m. March 8. The winner tangles with Bloomfield Hills Lahser at 5 p.m. March 10.

The championship is set for 7 p.m. March 12, with the winner heading to a regional March 15 hosted by Imlay City High.

Class D at Birmingham Roeper
The Roughriders welcome Detroit Marvin L. Winnans Academy of Performing Arts at 6 p.m. March 8. The winner of that game meets Detroit PEC Preparatory at 6 p.m. March 10 in a semifinal.

On the other side of the bracket, Detroit Michigan Health Academy and Detroit Urban Lutheran play at 7:30 p.m. March 8. The victor plays Southfield Christian at 7:30 p.m. March 10.

The championship is 7 p.m. March 12. Roeper also hosts the regional, which tips off March 15.
