White out
With defending champ gone, OAA White boys hoops race is wide open

Avondale just edged Rochester Adams for the crown last season and has since moved to the Red.
Birmingham Seaholm, though, has moved in from the Blue, joining Rochester Hills Stoney Creek, Troy Athens, Berkley High, Rochester High, Lake Orion High and Troy High.
Seaholm won the Blue last season, and coaches believe it might also have what it takes to win the White.
“Seaholm came up into our division and they’re pretty talented,” Berkley coach Jeremy Denha said. “I think they might be the frontrunners, and a lot of those other groups lost a lot of key contributors as seniors. I think if the kids respond, we’ll compete. I don’t know if we’ll be in the top of it or in the middle, but I think we’ll be in a lot of games.”
Seaholm coach Jose Andrades said his guys are excited about the new division and challenge.
“Basically, I think our team is pretty good,” he said. “I think we just have to get better. We have the players; we have the athletes; we have the people that can score points. But it’s how will our team jell together. We’re learning to play together, and we still have some new parts.” You can reach Sports Writer Christian Davis at cdavis@candgnews.com or at (586) 498-1062.
