FARMINGTON
The Farmers and Artisans Market takes place 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. each Saturday, rain or shine, at the Sundquist Pavilion in Riley Park, located on the south side of Grand River, just east of Farmington Road. Local farmers sell fresh produce and plants, while artisans display their arts and crafts. The market often includes musical entertainment and cooking demonstrations, and runs through Nov. 20. SOUTHFIELD Fresh from the farm, vendors will once again be selling their wares at the Southfield Farmers Market, held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Thursday, June through October, in the parking lot of the Millennium Theater, located at 15600 J.L. Hudson Drive.
In addition to fruits, vegetables and plants, the market will feature fresh baked goods, vegan pastries, jewelry, handmade crafts, herbs, jams and jellies, Michigan cherry products, homemade salsas and frozen seafood. CLAWSON
Clawson will hold farmers market events 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 23, June 6, June 20, July 11, July 25, Aug. 8, Aug. 22 and Sept. 12 at the Clawson City Park. There will be 40-45 different vendors on each day, selling items from fresh and organic produce to pies and locally made pickles.

FERNDALE
The new Ferndale Farmers Market launched on June 5 outside the Kulick Community Center, 1201 Livernois St. It’s open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through the end of October. Organizers also plan to sell some of their locally grown produce at downtown Ferndale venues such as Western Market, 447 W. Nine Mile Road.

UTICA
The Utica Farmers Market, run by Shelby Township resident Vernon McClain, starts May 9. The market is located on the north side of Auburn Road, at Moscone Drive, in front of the Department of Public Works. It will be open every day of the week but hours have not been determined. GROSSE POINTE PARK
The West Park Farmers Market launches its 2010 season at 9 a.m. May 15. A tree sale will take place that day from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and the costumed dog contest returns with a Western attire theme at 11:30 a.m. that day.
The market is located on Kercheval, between Lakepointe and Beaconsfield. Regular hours are Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 15 to Oct. 30. Extended hours for special events are 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Visitors can expect to find at least 20-30 vendors selling seasonal plants, certified organic and non-organic produce, baked goods, crafts, jewelry and more, as well as entertainment. Off-street parking can be found in a public lot off of Kercheval, between Lakepointe and Beaconsfield. BIRMINGHAM
The Birmingham Farmers Market brings colorful flowers, fresh produce, and a variety of handmade goods to the city for its eighth year. The outdoor market, which runs every Sunday through Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., is held in public Parking Lot 6 on the east side of North Old Woodward, north of Harmon Street in downtown Birmingham. |

The market features more than 40 booths boasting a wide variety of locally and regionally grown vegetables, fruits, flowers and garden plants, as well as specialty products such as baked goods and handmade soaps and soy candles. Shoppers can expect to find fruits and vegetables such as asparagus, lettuce, green onions, sugar peas, radishes, spinach, turnips, rhubarb and strawberries, plus hydroponic tomatoes, cucumbers and others from various venders at the market in late spring.

ROCHESTER
The Rochester Farmers Market is back. Vendors will be set up on the corner of East Third and Water every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. through the month of October. Opening day was May 1.
This year, there are several new vendors, as well as returning favorites. On “Event Saturdays,” or the first Saturday of each month, the Rochester Downtown Development Authority will offer special activities, giveaways and promotions. This is the city’s 11th year hosting the market, which features the produce, flowers and niche products of Michigan farms and merchants.
A list of participating vendors and their schedules, as well as the details of upcoming Event Saturdays, will be posted on the DDA Web site, www.downtownrochestermi.com.
The site of the market is adjacent to The Rochester Mills Beer Co., 400 Water St. in downtown Rochester.
